As part of Manulife’s sponsorship of the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon in Cambodia, Team Manulife runners are raising money for the Angkor Hospital for Children.
Funds raised will support two of the hospital’s programmes — the cardiac surgical programme and the malnutrition programme — to help children in Cambodia live longer, healthier lives.
We decided to embrace this worthy cause by participating in the event through a 10km power walk on Sunday December 4 in Angkor Wat as part of Manulife Team or by raising funds in support of our colleagues who will be walking. We are motivated by a vision of the world as Global Village. In many ways, we are connected today more than ever in the history, and a "neighbour" is just another fellow human being, including in remote parts of the world.
Unfortunately donations are not tax-deductible. Yet we hope that you will choose to make a difference in the lives of Cambodia's children by donating. While the monetary support is important, it is as important to send a message of caring from foreigners, like us, towards the Cambodian community. Many members of that community have to overcome more hardship every day than we've ever known.
